What should have been an ordinary journey turned into a nightmare on Friday night as suspected bandits unleashed terror on travellers along the Kishi-Igbeti Road in Oyo State.
The violent attack, which occurred around 9:30 p.m., left one person dead and several others nursing injuries after gunmen reportedly opened fire on a moving passenger vehicle.
The victim has been identified as Moshood Kayode, popularly known as “Mr. Kay”, a respected electricity worker whose tragic death has sent shockwaves through the community.

The incident has once again drawn attention to the growing security concerns surrounding the Kishi-Igbeti corridor and communities bordering the Old Oyo National Park. Residents have repeatedly expressed fears over increasing criminal activities in the region, with reports of kidnappings, armed attacks, and other violent incidents becoming a recurring concern.

Local sources say the latest attack has heightened anxiety among commuters and residents who rely on the route for daily movement. Images emerging from the scene reportedly revealed damage to the vehicle, highlighting the intensity of the assault.
