The Elesinele of Esiele in Oriire Local Government Area of Oyo State, Oba Tajudeen Abioye, has denied reports suggesting that he was arrested or questioned by security operatives over the recent abduction of pupils, students, and teachers in parts of the local government area.

Reports circulating across social media platforms alleged that the traditional ruler had been invited by security agencies as part of investigations into the school kidnapping incidents that affected communities including Ahoro-Esiele, Yawota, and nearby settlements.

Reacting to the speculation, Oba Abioye described the claims as baseless and misleading, maintaining that he has not been arrested, detained, or summoned by any security agency in connection with the ongoing investigation.

The monarch reiterated his commitment to supporting efforts aimed at restoring peace and security in the area. He emphasized the importance of collaboration between traditional institutions, residents, and security agencies in identifying those behind the attacks and ensuring justice is served.

The Oyo State Police Command also refuted the reports. Speaking on behalf of the Command, Police Public Relations Officer, CSP Ayanlade Olayinka, stated that the claims linking the traditional ruler to any form of police invitation or arrest were completely false.

The controversy comes weeks after armed kidnappers invaded schools within Oriire Local Government Area, abducting several pupils, students, and members of staff in an incident that sparked outrage across Oyo State and beyond.

Security agencies say investigations are still ongoing, with efforts focused on rescuing any remaining victims and apprehending those responsible for the crime.

Authorities have urged residents to remain vigilant, cooperate with law enforcement agencies, and avoid spreading unverified information capable of creating panic or disrupting ongoing investigations..
