The Chairman of Oorelope Local Government Area of Oyo State, Hon. Ogundiran Jacob Oluwale, has dismissed reports claiming that victims of a recent kidnapping incident in the area have regained their freedom.

The council boss described the reports circulating on social media as false and misleading, urging residents to remain calm and rely only on information released by relevant authorities.

The clarification comes amid widespread celebrations in Igboho town following an ultimatum issued by Yoruba Nation activist, Sunday Adeyemo, popularly known as Sunday Igboho, over the abduction of a woman, her children and another family member.

Videos that surfaced online showing jubilant residents and supporters of Igboho led many to believe that the victims had been released shortly after the activist’s intervention. However, local authorities have insisted that there is no official confirmation that the abducted family has regained freedom.

According to the Oorelope Local Government chairman, security agencies are still actively working on the case and efforts to secure the safe return of the victims remain ongoing.

The Oyo State Police Command also reportedly cautioned against the spread of unverified information, stressing that investigations and rescue operations are continuing.

Authorities further clarified that the victims were abducted in Igbope community and not in Igboho town as widely reported in some quarters.

The chairman appealed to residents to avoid spreading rumours capable of causing confusion or raising false hopes among family members of the victims.

He assured the public that updates would be communicated through official channels once there is verified information regarding the whereabouts and safety of the abducted persons.

The development adds a fresh twist to the controversy surrounding the kidnapping case, which has generated intense public attention across Oyo State and beyond.
