Oyo Police Parade Suspects, Recovered Items Linked To Demolished Ibadan Property Allegedly Owned By Suri Ilupeju

The Oyo State Police Command has paraded five suspects and several items recovered during investigations into a property recently demolished by the Oyo State Government in Ibadan over allegations of criminal activities.

The demolished building, located around the Gbenku area off Olodo Garage in Egbeda Local Government Area, was allegedly linked to Surajudeen Babatunde Adio, popularly known as “Suri Ilupeju.” The property was brought down following intelligence reports and security investigations that reportedly uncovered weapons and other incriminating materials within the premises.

While parading the suspects, police authorities disclosed that investigations are still ongoing to track down key individuals connected to the case. According to the command, the operation followed a petition alleging threats and other criminal activities linked to the prime suspect, who remains at large.

Authorities said the demolition was approved after security agencies submitted reports linking the property to the storage of arms and ammunition. The Oyo State Government described the action as part of its wider campaign against kidnapping, armed robbery and other violent crimes across the state.

Police further revealed that additional investigations led to the recovery of more exhibits believed to be connected to the alleged criminal network. The command assured residents that efforts are being intensified to arrest all fleeing suspects and uncover the full extent of activities surrounding the case.

The development has generated intense reactions across Oyo State, with many residents expressing support for the government’s tough stance on insecurity, while others have raised questions about due process, property rights and the growing intersection between security operations and politics. The controversy has continued to fuel heated debates on social media.

State officials maintain that any property found to be aiding criminal activities will face sanctions in accordance with the law, warning landlords and property owners to properly screen tenants before leasing their properties.
